STRATEGY 3 - CAPACITY BUILDING
For more than 10 years, JCNI and its founding organization, the Jacobs Family Foundation, have explored ways to help build the capacity of people to change their neighborhoods. During that time, we learned that we are more effective if we form partnerships and actively participate in achieving the goals together.
To build relationships that work, JCNI develops technical assistance partnerships slowly, starting with small pieces of work that allow us to understand each other and agree on goals and process. Roundtable discussions, peer-to-peer learning circles, and learning exchanges with other communities offer additional opportunities for us to learn and work together.
A few of these develop into long-term capacity-building partnerships, in-depth learning relationships that work on every aspect of our organizations' capacity to achieve an over-arching community goal together. Because these require full organizational commitment of both JCNI and the partner agency over many years, JCNI is able to create only a few of these at one time.
