STRATEGY 2 - ENTREPRENEURIAL PROJECTS
Community ownership of assets gives residents control of their future. Neighborhood revitalization linked with a strategy for local ownership eliminates blight, expands resources, and gives residents a way to drive community change without being displaced by it.
Since 1999, JCNI supported the development of Market Creek Plaza, a $65-million commercial and cultural center designed and built by residents, combining social, economic, and physical development into one model project.
To make community ownership of the project a reality, we work with a network of community teams that guide decision-making for the project. Together, we are creating a vibrant community hub incorporating multicultural arts and entertainment, as well as essential products and services.
