Arts & Culture
The Diamond Neighborhoods are home to at least 12 different cultures.
We celebrate this diversity with experiences that reinforce and contribute to the area
as an emerging destination for arts and culture.
Just eight minutes east of downtown San Diego you’ll find a unique slice of the world and the inspiring experiences it has to offer. Filled with vibrant and diverse culture, the Diamond Neighborhoods are home to world-class performing arts and cultural events.
We pride ourselves on hosting lively dance, energized live music, family-friendly festivals, tremendous theater, and other fantastic performances that reflect the diversity of the community and establish the area as a must-visit cultural district.
Channeling youth expression into vibrant graffiti art and providing real-world trade skills and hands-on experience made Writerz Blok a nationally recognized urban art program. Since 2003, this group of artists has been at the forefront of a community-led effort to transform blight into beauty while also providing an outlet for youth in the Diamond Neighborhoods, fusing art and technology to prepare students for careers in creative industries. As a social enterprise, Writerz Blok offers courses in graphic design, screen-printing, and graffiti art history and are expanding to include website development, coding, and media arts. Their retail shop provides youth with work experience.
