Mountain View, located in the central portion of southeastern San Diego, sits on 735 acres of land bounded on the north by Market Street, on the south by Logan Avenue, on the west by State Highway 15, and on the east by Interstate 805. The neighborhood became known as "Mountain View" because of its unobstructed view of San Miguel Mountain to the east. Located on a plateau, it is one of the flattest areas in the community.
"Years ago Mountain View Community Center was so small that meetings were packed like sardines. Then a dedicated group of community ladies got together with the councilman and petitioned the City to make changes. Now, it is the heart of the community. The organizing group made sure it had a kitchen, park, and room for classes. People take pride in the new center”.
